Low Hydrogen Electrode



The American Alloy USA 8018-C3 is a low hydrogen electrode alloyed with ~1% Nickel for superior notch toughness at low temperatures. It’s ideal for welding quenched and tempered steels such as A514 and A517, as well as structural frameworks and offshore applications. Equivalent to ER80S-Ni1 in wire form, it offers excellent arc stability and performance in all positions.

Usage Instructions

Use DC+ (preferred) or AC with high OCV. Clean base material thoroughly and bevel thick joints to 60°. Preheat to 200–300°F for thick sections or cold environments. Maintain short arc and steady travel speed. For enhanced performance, PWHT at ~1150°F may be applied based on base metal requirements.
